Severe weather, including heavy rain and strong wind caused by the remnants of Hurricane BERYL-18, have been affecting part of the Carribean region (Dominican Republic and Puerto Rico) over the past few days, causing floods and damages.
According to media, in the Dominican Republic 900 people were reported displaced and 700 homes were flooded in San Cristóbal Province and in the capital Santo Domingo. In addition media reported, as of the same date, 140 000 houses without power in the Dominican Republic and 14 000 houses without power in Puerto Rico (USA).
The Centre of Operation and Emergency (COE) of Dominican Republic issued a red warning on 10 July for floods across San Jose de Ocos, San Cristobal and Santo Domingo Provinces.
Over the next 24 hours, moderate rains are forecast for the central-southern regions of the Dominican Republic, including across the already affected provinces.
