Operational Updates

Lifesaving food and nutrition assistance (Crisis response)

• WFP continued to provide emergency food assistance to 68,750 vulnerable refugees, asylum seekers, and host populations. Thanks to its close partnership with the Ministry of Interior, the United Nations High Commission for Refugees (UNHCR), and the Ministry of Social Affairs and Solidarities,

• WFP reached 21,600 refugees and asylum seekers in the settlements of Ali-Addeh, Holl-Holl, and Markazi with unconditional food assistance. In total, WFP distributed 130 metric tons (mt) of food and transferred USD 100,615 through cash-based transfers (CBT) to meet their basic food needs.

• WFP addressed the urgent food needs of 14,900 persons experiencing crisis and emergency levels of food insecurity (IPC Phase 3 and Phase 4) across the country. These included 2,750 individuals awaiting asylum seeker status. In-kind commodities distributed totaled 437 mt.

• Additionally, in urban areas, WFP reached over 20,330 individuals (4,000 households) grappling with acute food insecurity (IPC Phase 3 and Phase 4). In line with the value of the national safety net programme, WFP transferred DJF 10,000 (USD 56) per household, with a total of cash-based transfers amounting USD 227,700.

• WFP provided food assistance to 11,755 people under its lean season response. In total, 398 mt of assorted commodities (cereals, pulses, and fortified vegetable oil) was distributed.

Life-changing interventions (Resilience building)

• Through its Food Assistance for Assets (FFA) initiative, WFP partnered with the Ministry of Education to strengthen the national school feeding programme. WFP supported 47 community gardeners responsible for maintaining school infrastructure by providing cashbased transfers. To reduce travel time and associated costs, each gardener received a two-month payment of USD 112 in a single transfer.
