REFUGEE RESPONSE
UNHCR and DHR repaired borehole in Holl Holl refugee village. During the week, UNHCR, in partnership with its partner the Rural Hydraulics Department (DHR), carried out repairs to the Holl-Holl borehole following a major leak. The work was carried out, at the head of the column, to enable a rapid resumption of safe water supply for the village's residents. With the involvement of the refugee community, the village's R2 reservoir was cleaned up as part of the usual maintenance operations on the village's water supply.
Newly arrived refugees received NFI kits in Holl-Holl. On March 19, UNHCR, in collaboration with ONARS, distributed non-food items composed of tents and other household material to 45 families recently registered in the refugee village of Holl-Holl. This material assistance is part of facilitating their settlement.
UNHCR and its partners discussed individual management of vulnerable cases. On March 13, 2025, UNHCR, in collaboration with its partners ONARS, UNFD and CIAUD CANADA, organized an individual vulnerable case management session to assess and identify the most vulnerable refugees who will receive monthly financial assistance. A total of 53 cases were assessed, including 32 in Ali-Addeh and 21 in Holl-Holl. This analysis is a continuation from the previous week's home visits, which involved more than 48 people with special needs in Ali-Addeh and Holl-Holl.
UNHCR, in collaboration with ONARS, continued to register new arrivals from Ethiopia, Somalia, Yemen and Eritrea. On March 12 and 18, 2025, UNHCR, in collaboration with ONARS, registered 21 new arrivals households comprising of 34 people, respectively 15 families in Djibouti-ville and 6 in Holl-Holl . These included 9 Ethiopian families, 8 Somali families, 2 Yemeni families, 2 Eritrean families and 1 Burundian family. In addition, as part of the ongoing registration process, UNHCR, in collaboration with ONARS, registered 57 households, including 40 families in Ali-Addeh, 10 in Holl-Holl and 7 in Djibouti-ville. UNHCR and ONARS also provided continuous registration, the cases concerned include refugees already registered who need updating, civil cases such as the registration of births, deaths, marriages and divorces, changes of address and unregistered children.
