DEMOCRATIC REPUBLIC OF CONGO
In eastern DR Congo, state of emergency declared in Kisangani due to flooding; an estimated 10,000 persons affected in and around the city. WFP airlifts 3 metric tons of high-energy biscuits, using an aircraft provided by the Government.
PART II - DETAILS
A state of emergency has been declared in Kisangani due to flooding. Parts of the city are under water, the port is closed and electricity and water supplies are cut off. Villages north and south of the city are reported to have been seriously affected. It is estimated that 10,000 persons have been affected in and around the city. Following a request for food assistance, WFP has airlifted 3 metric tons of high-energy biscuits, using an aircraft provided by the Government.
