HIGHLIGHTS
- The security situation across eastern DRC remains highly volatile. Human rights violations, including reprisal killings and abductions, continue to be reported.
- On 23 April, parties to the conflict in Eastern Democratic Republic of the Congo agreed to a ceasefire following peace talks held in Doha, facilitated by the Government of Qatar. Both sides committed to maintaining the ceasefire throughout the ongoing negotiations.
- UNHCR, SRSG-SVC, and UNFPA issued a joint statement warning of the devastating impact of the conflict in eastern DRC on women and children, and expressing grave concern over rising conflict-related sexual violence.

- On 25 April UNHCR’s Director for Emergencies briefed the mediaon the significant funding shortfalls which threaten the ongoing emergency response to Congolese refugees arriving in Burundi, as well as the challenging conditions at key hosting sites- including the Musenyi refugee site**.**
- UNHCR and its partners continue to carry out key activities under its protection mandate across North and South Kivu, including protection monitoring, awareness-raising, referral and case management
- Over 136,000 people have fled from the DRC to neighbouring countries since the beginning of the year.
