Ministry for Foreign Affairs - Press release
'I have just received the shocking news that six International Red Cross workers have been murdered in the Democratic Republic of the Congo. I would like to express my deep regret to the families of the victims and to the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC).

The attack on the six aid workers is unfortunately just the latest in a far too long series of similar outrages against humanitarian personnel. Once more we are brutally reminded of the importance of guaranteeing and really respecting the safety of humanitarian personnel.

Sweden and the international community strongly condemn this kind of outrage against humanitarian aid workers.'

Sweden is working in various UN agencies and other international forums to strengthen the protection of humanitarian personnel and for their safety to be guaranteed by everyone.
