The Federal Foreign Office is making available
some 210,000 euro from its humanitarian assistance budget to Caritas Germany
for relief work in the Democratic Republic of the Congo. The funds will
be used to furnish some 15,000 internally displaced persons with emergency
provisions such as blankets, clothes and cooking utensils.
This sum brings the Foreign Office's
emergency humanitarian assistance for Congolese people displaced within
the province of Ituri since the start of the current crisis to a total
of roughly 810,000 euro. Aid projects organized by World Vision (Germany),
German Agro Action and the Maltese Cross Relief Service have already received
funding. So far this year, the Federal Government has made available a
total of 1.86 million euro for humanitarian relief measures in the Democratic
Republic of the Congo.
