Egypt expands its participation at the UN peacekeeping operations in Africa

Spokesman for the Foreign Ministry stated that the future increase of the Egyptian participation at UN peacekeeping operations, scheduled to be carried out soon, includes 940 additional individual in Darfur in West Sudan, and 660 individual at the peacekeeping mission in Southern Sudan, in addition to some support at the UN peacekeeping mission in D.C Congo, in response to the UN request.

The Spokesman highlighted that such increase came in the framework of Egypt's international commitment in the field of peacekeeping at the African continent, affirming its pioneer and vital role in this field. It also reflects UN belief in Egypt's important axial role of consolidating peace in the African continent.

It is worth mentioning that Egypt is participating at 10 UN peacekeeping missions, 7 inside the African continent, 2 in Asia, and 1 in Central America.
