KATHMANDU, Jul 22, 2005 (Xinhua via
COMTEX) - The Royal Nepal Army (RNA) on Friday said that it has penalized
six of its soldiers deployed at the United Nations peacekeeping mission
in Congo, for allegations of sex abuses.
"All the wrongdoers have been sentenced
to imprisonment for three months by the military court," the RNA spokesman
Brigadier General Deepak Gurung said at a press meet in Kathmandu.
Three of them have been demoted while the grade of one another has been put on hold, Gurung noted.
The RNA recalled the soldiers after they were found guilty of sexual misconduct while carrying out their duty under the United Nations peace keeping mission in Congo a few months ago.
