On 21 October 2024, clashes between two armed groups were reported by UNOCHA and the Kongolo Humanitarian Antenna in the province of Tanganyika. This conflict displaced people in around 30 villages located in the Kabambare and Lusangi health zones (in the south of the Maniema province). The majority of these people found refuge in the aires de santé* of Sola, Mugizya (in the Kongolo health zone) and Ponda (in the Mbulula health zone).
In order to provide an updated overview of site-level populations and to facilitate the provision of humanitarian assistance, IOM’s Displacement Tracking Matrix (DTM) undertook registration operations in 2 displacement sites in Tanganyika between 29 March and 2 April 2025. This report presents key findings drawn from the registration operation. Registration teams visited these displacement sites to verify the presence of displaced households, shelter by shelter. In each inhabited tent, the enumerators recorded the households present. This operation was conducted in collaboration with the Camp Coordination and Camp Management (CCCM) cluster and in partnership with the Direction de l’Inclusion et de la Valorisation des Atouts Humains (DIVAH).
