Democratic Republic of the Congo - Severe weather and floods (IFRC, Meteo DRC, NOAA-CPC) (ECHO Daily Flash of 27 March 2026)

  • Since 24 March, heavy rain and consequent flooding has affected the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC), causing fatalities, displacement, and damage. The most affected provinces are Nord-Ubangi (Gbadolite city) in the north, and Haut Lomami (Bukama territory) and Maniema (Kindu city) in the east of the DRC.
  • The International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC), as of 26 March, reports two fatalities, 33 injured, 4 710 displaced, and 150 000 affected in Gbadolite city, Nord-Ubangi. In Bukama territory, Haut Lomami province, 48 people have been injured, 2 815 displaced, and a total of 13 000 affected. In Kindu city, Maniema province, 1 621 people have been displaced and 60 033 people affected. IFRC also reports of multiple destroyed homes.
  • Over the next 48 hours, additional moderate rain and isolated thunderstorms are forecast over large parts of the country, with isolated heavy rain in the east.
