Since 24 March, heavy rain and consequent flooding has affected the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC), causing fatalities, displacement, and damage. The most affected provinces are Nord-Ubangi (Gbadolite city) in the north, and Haut Lomami (Bukama territory) and Maniema (Kindu city) in the east of the DRC.
The International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC), as of 26 March, reports two fatalities, 33 injured, 4 710 displaced, and 150 000 affected in Gbadolite city, Nord-Ubangi. In Bukama territory, Haut Lomami province, 48 people have been injured, 2 815 displaced, and a total of 13 000 affected. In Kindu city, Maniema province, 1 621 people have been displaced and 60 033 people affected. IFRC also reports of multiple destroyed homes.
Over the next 48 hours, additional moderate rain and isolated thunderstorms are forecast over large parts of the country, with isolated heavy rain in the east.
