Democratic Republic of the Congo: Rapid Displacement Analysis, North Kivu and South Kivu (3-11 March 2025)

Attachments

After decades of conflict, a prolonged humanitarian crisis and massive movements across the eastern provinces of DRC, resulting in a nation-wide displacement of almost 7 million people, the recent M23 advance has triggered new displacements while re-displacing IDPs that were living in pre-existing sites and settlements in both provinces. Following the Emergency Event Tracking (EET) evaluation in Goma city and the outskirts of the Nyiragongo territory, conducted in February 2025, which reported over 660,000 individuals re-displaced from pre-existing sites and collective centres between January and February 2025, IOM’s Displacement Tracking Matrix (DTM) undertook a broader EET assessment. This evaluation covered the areas under M23 control, and immediate adjacent areas, in the provinces of North Kivu and South Kivu, and assessed the population movements and humanitarian needs of the displaced people on a larger scale, following the dismantling of numerous pre-existing displacement sites and collective centres in both provinces.
