On 13 January, following heavy rainfall, a landslide struck Burutsi village, North Kivu, in the northeastern Democratic Republic of the Congo, resulting in fatalities and damage.
As of 13 January, media reports at least 13 fatalities, 30 people still missing, and four people injured. At least ten homes were destroyed and parts of the Goma-Masisi-Walikale road was cut off.
Over the next 48 hours, additional rainfall with isolated thunderstorms is expected across large parts of the DRC, including in the east (and North Kivu), south, and west of the country.
