Democratic Republic of the Congo - Floods (IFRC, NOAA-CPC) (ECHO Daily Flash of 7 April 2026)

  • Since 1 April, Kahele Territory, South Kivu province, eastern Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) has been affected by heavy rain triggering floods and the overflow of the Nyacivira River, resulting in fatalities and damage.
  • The International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC), as of 6 April, reports six fatalities, 13 people injured, and 1 882 people displaced. A total of 65 000 people has been affected.
  • Over the next 48 hours, additional moderate to heavy rainfall is forecast across the DRC.
