  • On August 3, the USG announced $48 million in additional humanitarian funding in response to conflict in eastern DRC. Meanwhile on June 16, the UN announced a System-Wide Scale-Up for Ituri, North Kivu, and South Kivu provinces due to increasing displacement, GBV incidents, and violence against civilians. The UN estimates approximately $1.6 billion is required to assist 5.5 million of the most vulnerable people in the three provinces through December.

  • Reported rates of GBV continue to increase in North Kivu, with nearly 10,400 survivors of GBV seeking support services from relief actors from January to June, the UN reports.

  • Armed conflict throughout July prompted widespread displacement, and hindered the delivery of humanitarian assistance in Ituri, Mai-Ndombe, and North Kivu provinces.
