Most affected provinces are South Phyongan, North Phyongan, Kangwon, North Hamgyong and South Hamgyong.

As of 6 August 2012, 169 deaths, 154 injured and 400 missing persons are reported and 60,096 houses have been damaged and 700 000 population affected.

Government has mobilized helicopters for rescue works and provided tents to affected population. All non affected health facilities and hundreds of health workers were activated to care for the injured and sick. Health & Nutrition and WASH Clusters activated and five Inter-Agency Emergency Kits were distributed to the areas affected.

In addition to the injured, increase in the diarrheal diseases and unsafe home deliveries observed.
