S. Korea to help DPRK fight drug-resistant tuberculosis

SEOUL, Dec 21, 2009 (Xinhua via COMTEX) -- South Korea plans to assist the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) in fighting drug- resistant tuberculosis, local media reported on Tuesday, citing an unnamed high-ranking government official.

Following the decision, the country's Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade and Ministry of Unification are set to discuss details on the planned aid, according to reports.

Foreign Minister Yu Myung-hwan on Monday reportedly met with an official at the Eugene Bell Foundation, a humanitarian aid group that has led campaigns to help the DPRK stem tuberculosis, to discuss the issue, according to Yonhap News Agency.
