Heavy seasonal rain in mid-July resulted in flooding in many parts of DPRK Korea. Particularly severely affected are the provinces of North and South Pyongan.
There has been extensive damage to buildings and infrastructure with 49,000 displaced across the country, mostly in the two provinces of North and South Pyongan with at least 4,000 families losing their homes.
Farmland has been inundated with some 11,500 hectares affected with around 1,100 hectares of farmland destroyed.
