PRAGUE, March 19 (CTK) - The State Fund for Housing Development will release Kc850m for the construction of tenement flats for people who lost their homes in last year's floods, government spokeswoman Anna Starkova said, adding that the cabinet accepted the proposal of Minister Pavel Nemec.
Nemec
is Minister for Local Development. His ministry has already spent Kc200m
on the construction of tenement flats for people who lost their homes in
the floods last year. "People hit by August floods already live in
188 new flats, 36 flats are about to be approved for use and another 237
are under construction," ministry spokesman Petr Dimun said on Monday.
As
the ministry lacks more funds for this purpose, Nemec turned to the cabinet
with a request to release money from the Housing Fund.
The
Local Development Ministry has spent some Kc1.7bn on the removal of flood
damage. Another Kc1.5bn were provided from EU funds. The floods in August
2002 damaged flats and houses worth Kc1.75bn.
