An official ceremony of handing over humanitarian aid delivered by the Russian Ministry for Emergency Situations has been held today at the port of Mariel, Artemisa province of Cuba.
The 300-ton cargo of construction materials, mobile power stations and food provided by the Russian Federal Agency for State Reserves was delivered to Cuba by sea.
Over 1,100 tons of relief supplies are planned to be brought in by the end of the month.
In early September, almost the entire northern coast of Cuba was hit by Irma hurricane which killed dozens of people and seriously damaged the country’s economy. Following the request of Cuba, the Russian Government decided to send humanitarian aid.
