Hurricane Dennis pounds Gulf Coast

Hurricane Dennis pounded Florida Panhandle and Alabama coast on Sunday, July 10, the same area struck by Ivan just 10 months ago. UMCOR is prepared to deploy early response teams that will remove debris and distribute cleanup supplies in affected Gulf Coast areas. Last week, Dennis wreaked death and destruction in the Caribbean, particularly in Cuba and Haiti.

On July 8, UMCOR Domestic Disaster Response executive Tom Hazelwood held pre-hurricane strategy discussions with UMCOR disaster consultants and conference disaster response leaders. All are on standby. Hazelwood said, "We will have staff on the ground wherever Dennis hits."
