Cuba: Hurricane Irma update (as of 16 September 2017)

One week after the impact of Hurricane Irma, the work to return to the normality in 13 out of 15 provinces from Cuba still intense. Recovery of health services, power supply, potable water distribution and houses are on the priority list. But not only those, as schools, transport network, communication systems, and industries of tourism, agriculture and livestock were also heavily impacted, specially in the northern side of the island. Damage and needs assessments are still on going and numbers have been updated on a daily basis as results have been compiled. The UN system has been working together with the national authorities to elaborate a multisectorial plan of action aiming to attend to the most critical needs of the population.
