Job-seekers to be hired to help remove consequences of floods

The Croatian towns and municipalities hit by floods in the last few days will be allowed to hire unemployed people to remove the consequences of the flooding and the government will entirely finance those public works, the government said in a statement on Sunday.

The Ministry of Labour and Pension System, in cooperation with the Employment Service (HZZ), will provide for the salaries of those workers and they will be paid minimum salaries by the HZZ.

Public works in the flood-hit towns and municipalities in Brod-Posavina, Pozega-Slavonia, Vukovar-Srijem and possible other counties will be approved under fast-track procedure, said the statement.
