Cesar, which struck the Central American country last July. The disaster
caused 29 deaths, damaged 5,000 homes and affected one in five Costa Ricans.
Damage to homes and infrastructure has been estimated at $150 million.
Aid donors and UN agencies have committed $10 million in immediate
assistance and another $20 million in loans. UNDP is helping coordinate
humanitarian, emergency and rehabilitation assistance. Communities have
already begun carrying out some reconstruction projects.
