On 6 November 2018, the Costa Rica National Commission for Risk Prevention and Emergency Care (CNE) reported landslides in Santa Clara Vieja, San Vito de Coto Brus District, Punteras Province where 40 people and 13 homes were affected. On 6 November 2018, the Peru National Emergency Operations Center (COEN) reported that the Sabancaya volcano, located 70 kilometers northwest of Arequipa Department, generated an average of 30 explosions per day from 29 October – 4 November 2018. Ash columns reached a maximum height of 3,400 meters above the crater and dispersed an approximate radius of 40 kilometers toward the towns located southwest, south, and southeast.
