Support to Local Value Chains

• Resilience-Building: A field mission was conducted in the Bouenza Department by a delegation including China’s Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs (MARA), the Chinese Academy of Tropical Agriculture Sciences (CATAS), and WFP Center of Excellence in Beijing. The delegation met with the MARA project’s beneficiaries, local authorities, and potential partners working to develop cassava and banana value chains. The mission also included a workshop, chaired by the Minister of Agriculture on 20 November in Brazzaville, focusing on lessons learned from the MARA project.

• School Feeding: As part of the India, Brazil, South Africa (IBSA) component of the school feeding project, WFP organized consultation workshops with 10 schools and 10 smallholder farmer groups from the Pool, Bouenza, and Plateaux. Discussions focused on locally procured school menus, product pricing, and the project’s implementation.

• IBSA Ceremony: On 26 November, WFP handed over IBSA-funded equipment to the Ministries of Agriculture and Education. The equipment, including tricycles, motorbike pumps, water tanks, utensils, and other items, will support beneficiary farmers and schools.
