In 2024, the World Food Programme's needs assessment (EFSA, May 2024) reported that 13 million Colombians are in a situation of moderate or severe food insecurity (25% of the population), an improvement of 5% compared to the previous year*. Meanwhile, the latest migrant’s needs assessment (EFSA, November 2024) shows that 37% of migrants with intention to settle are food insecure, an improvement of 15% from the previous assessment**. However, 72% of migrants without permanent residence continue to face limitations in accessing food.
The humanitarian situation showed a deterioration in 2024 compared to the previous year, with 8.3 million people in need of humanitarian assistance, of whom 7.3 million were in a situation of food and nutritional insecurity, according to the Humanitarian Needs Overview of Colombia, 2024.
