Declaration of public emergency due to drought in Córdoba and Cesar Departments: More than 80% of the rural population in the municipality of Valencia, Cordoba was affected by drought and was declared a public emergency on April 6, 2016. 13 of the 15 districts in the municipality are without potable water. In the Department of Cesar, a public emergency due to drought was also declared on April 8, 2016. El Niño has brought intense droughts and heavy job and economic losses in the agriculture sector.
