KEY DEVELOPMENTS

Complex Emergency

Forced displacement: An estimated 1,000 people were displaced in the Pacific region. In southern Córdoba department, new illegal armed groups continue to cause small-scale displacements.

Protection of civilians: The Office of the Ombudsman calls for stronger protection measures along the Pacific coast and in Cauca department. Through the quarterly report on its Mission to Support the Peace Process in Colombia (MAPP/OEA), the OAS Secretary General considers as a major concern the “emergence and growth of some groups operating outside the law” and ”the way the civilian population is becoming involved in the violent dynamics imposed by the post-demobilization groups”.
