Colombia - Landslide, update (media, catnat, NOAA) (ECHO Daily Flash of 21 July 2023)

  • Following the landslide of 17 July in the Municipality of Quetame, Cundinamarca Department (central Colombia), the number of casualties and damage increased.
  • According to media, as of 21 July, 20 people died, nine others are still missing and 6 people were injured. Several homes and a key trade route, including a bridge on the Bogotá-Villavicencio Highway, have been destroyed.
  • Over the next 24 hours, more rainfall is expected over the central-northern Colombia, with locally heavy rainfall in the noth-western part of the country.
