El Niño in early 2016 continued to severely affect the North Andes region of South America. Based on IDEAM data, UNITAR-UNOSAT identified rainfall anomalies for the period between October 2015 and March 2016, which are well below average precipitation for the Caribbean region of Colombia (See central map).
