Anticipation of Drought in Colombia - Alert 776

A predicted El Niño event posed the risk of severe drought in coastal and mountainous areas of Colombia. This anticipation alert provided timely assistance to households in isolated rural areas who had previously been victims of land dispossession during the armed conflict. It differed from a typical response by focusing on training for mitigation strategies such as water and soil conservation, management of forest fires and GBV workshops.
