Nearly 3 years after the Wenchuan earthquake, the RCSC HQs sent out inspection teams to Sichuan, Gansu and Ningxia affected areas to inspect its post-earthquake recovery work.

On March 30th, a 3-member RCSC inspection team was dispatched to Guangyuan city in Sichuan to inspect the recovery projects there. Despite the long travel, the inspection started its mission immediately they arrived. The team went through all the project documentation, management and allocation materials concerning the projects, inquired about implantation details. The team then set out for Baiqiao, Helingjiang and Yunfeng townships of Cangxi County to visit 2 Red Cross schools and 1 Red Cross clinic, and checked the software material at the Cangxi County Red Cross and Project sites. Through on-site inspection, the team found the recovery project implementation in Guangyuan satisfactory, expressing commend that the branch has done a good job in the management, operation, performance, Red Cross sign visibility and culture dissemination after completion of the hardware reconstruction. The team also offered timely direction to further regulate and improve documentation and to do well when finishing up the projects.

From March 28th to 31st, 4 delegates from competent departments of RCSC HQs went on an inspection visit to part of Gansu post-earthquake recovery projects.

From March 29th to 31st, the team was accompanied by Provincial Red Cross SG Yuan Bo to visit project sites of Touzhai Middle School, Huining County No. 2 People’s Hospital in Huining County, and Traditional Chinese Medicine Hospital, Jingming Primary School in Jingchuan County of Baiyin Prefecture.

On March 31st, RCSC Post-earthquake Recovery Inspection team conducted a comprehensive review of recovery projects in Ningxia adopting a random sampling approach. The team went to Jingyuan County, Pengyang County and Yuanzhou District to inspect the reconstruction projects of residential houses, health stations, clinics, activity centers and disaster preparedness centers. At the project sites, the team was debriefed by the county Red Cross branch on the post-disaster reconstruction progress, checked the project hardware, reviewed project documents, examined management and utilization of project funds, and held conversation with assisted organizations and beneficiaries regarding their advice and suggestions to the Red Cross-supported projects.
