LANZHOU, Oct. 31 (Xinhuanet) -- Chinese Vice-Minister of Civil Affairs Yang Yanyin visited the quake-struck areas of northwest China's Gansu Province Friday.
Yang, who led a work group from the ministry, first went to visit Minle and Shandan counties, which suffered the most serious damages in the strong tremors last Saturday, and talked with local residents before she listened to the report on the disaster reliefwork given by the government officials of Zhangye City.
Yang said local governments should try their best to guarantee that all the quake victims could pass though the approaching winter safely while accelerating the renovation of the quake-affected buildings and facilities.
Yang said the local government should stick to a "fair and open" principle on relief materials distribution so as to ensure they could be sent to the most needed. Enditem
