Earthquakes Injure 211 People In Southwestern China

BEIJING (Nov. 20) XINHUA - Two earthquakes that hit China's Yunnan Province last night left 211 people seriously injured, according to the Ministry of Civil Affairs.

Recent information on the quake damage from the National Seismology Bureau of China says is losses are estimated at 200 million yuan.

Two quakes, measuring 5.0 and 6.2 on the Richter Scale, hit the Ninglang Yi Autonomous County at 19:31 and 19:38 respectively.

Three quakes hit the area previously on Oct. 2, 23 and 27. Combined losses from the five quakes amounts to 335 million yuan, according to the Bureau.

The number of people affected by the quakes is about 180,000. Clothing, food, and medicines are being sent to the area. Enditem
