- Tropical cyclone YAGI (termed "Enteng" in the Philippines) continue westward over the South China Sea on 5 September as a typhoon, further strengthening. On 6 September at 0.00 UTC, its centre was located over the sea approximately 130 km east of the north-eastern coast of the Hainan island, southern China, and approximately 550 km southeast of the Ha Long city area, northern Vietnam, with maximum sustained winds of 241 km/h (typhoon).
- The passage of YAGI over the Visayas and Luzon islands caused heavy rainfall, floods and landslides that resulted in casualties and damage. The National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) reports, as of 6 September, 16 fatalities, 17 persons still missing, 13 injured people and nearly 47,700 evacuated people.
- YAGI is forecast to make landfall over the northern Hainan island on very late in the morning (UTC) of 6 September, with maximum sustained winds up to 240 km/h. After that it is expected to make a second landfall over the greater Hanoi area on 7 September, with maximum sustained winds up to 185 km/h.
- Over the next 72 hours, very heavy rainfall, strong winds and storm surges are forecast over the Guangdong province and the Hainan island, while severe weather is forecast over northern Vietnam starting from 7 September.
