- On 12 June, tropical cyclone WUTIP continued north-west over the South China Sea towards Hainan island, far southern China as a tropical storm, slightly strengthening. On 13 June at 0.00 (UTC), its centre was located offshore between the South China Sea and the Gulf of Tonkin, very close to western Hainan and 200 km east of the coast of central Viet Nam, with maximum sustained winds of 111 km/h (tropical storm).
- Heavy rainfall caused by WUTIP resulted in floods and severe weather-related incidents across central coastal Viet Nam. The ASEAN Disaster Information Network (ADINet) reports around 3,200 affected people and over 800 flooded houses in the affected area.
- WUTIP is expected to continue north over the Gulf of Tonkin, passing very close to Hainan in the morning (UTC) of 13 June, with maximum sustained winds of 111 km/h. After that, it is forecast to make landfall over the south-eastern Guangxi province, southern China in the morning (UTC) of 14 June.
- Over the next 48 hours, very heavy rainfall, strong winds and storm surges are forecast over Hainan island, southern China and central and northern Viet Nam.
