China: Level Four emergency response has been started up for cold wave

Affected by the strong cold air, from this afternoon to the noon of Dec. 24, there will be northern wind with scale 5 to 7 with gust up to scael 8 affecting northern Xinjiang, northeastern northwest China, and central and western Inner Mongolia. Moutain mouth areas in northern Xinjiang will see high wind with scale 9 to 10 and gust to scale 11. After the passing of the cold front, these areas will see a drop in temperature by 6 to 10 degrees Celsius, of which the temperature in northern Xinjiang, and central and western Inner Mongolia will drop 12 to 14 degrees Celsius and isolated to above 14 degrees. Moderate to heavy snow (3 to 7 mm) with isolated blizzard (10 to 15 mm) is likely to hit northern Xinjiang.

In view of the above-mentioned conditions, the Emergency Response Office of CMA, Department of Emergency Response, Disaster Mitigation and Public Services, Department of Forecasting and Information System, Department of Integrated Observations, National Meteorological Center, National Satellite Meteorological Center, National Meteorological Information Center, National Climate Center, Meteorological Observation Center of CMA, CMA Public Weather Service Center, China Meteorological News Press, Huafeng Group and regional meteorological bureaus in Xinjiang and Inner Mongolia immediately enter into the Level Four emergency responsive state.
