Since 1 June, heavy rainfall has been affecting central-southern China, in particular the Sichuan and Yunnan Provinces, causing floods and triggering landslides that have resulted in casualties and damage.
Media report, as of 5 June, 22 fatalities, of which 19 in the area of Leshan City, southern Sichuan Province due to a huge landslide occurred on 4 June and three in the Yiliang County, central Yunnan Province due to floods. Three missing people were still reported in the Yiliang County and a number of evacuated people in Leshan City following both the aforementioned events.
Over the next 24 hours, according to the China Meteorological Administration (CMA), more heavy rainfall is still forecast over Sichuan and Yunnan Provinces.
