China - Floods (NOAA-CPC, media) (ECHO Daily Flash of 25 June 2025)

  • Over the last few days, heavy rainfall and flooding has been affecting Hunan province, Central China region, resulting in fatalities and extensive damage.

  • Media reports, as at 24 June, at least three fatalities in Longshan County, Hunan province, while over 112,000 people were evacuated by 21 June, and an additional 30,900 people were asked to evacuate in Huaihua city on 22 June. A total of 400,000 people were affected in seven cities and prefecture-level areas of Hunan province.

  • Over the next 48 hours, additional heavy to very heavy rain is expected over the southeast of China, including Hunan province.
