KUNMING, January 27 (Xinhua) - Earthquake relief work in Mile and Qiubei counties of southwest China's Yunnan Province has been affected due to a sudden drop in temperatures and snow in mountain regions. ''Temperatures during the night drop to almost zero, making it difficult for relief workers to reach some quake-hit areas,'' said a Mile county official.
Early this morning, an earthquake measuring 5.5 on the Richter scale jolted two counties located in mountainous areas 2,000 meters above sea level.
The provincial government has allocated one million yuan in relief funds while local government departments have sent tents, clothing and other necessities.
