Monitoring Emergencies: Chile - 02/23/2017: Wildfire affects 2,600 hectares between the regions of Maule and Bio Bío

The “Zemita” wildfire affected the regions of Maule and Bio Bío, specifically in the communes of Parral and Ñiquén, consuming a total of approximately 2,600 hectares of vegetation and affecting 40 houses. A total of 23 forest brigades helped combat the wildfire. At the national level, CONAF has registered a total of 25 wildfires, 17 of which are controlled, 7 which are active, and 1 that is extinguished. A red alert remains for the communes of Valparaíso, Villa Alemana, Limache, and four others. (OS: CONAF)
