Strong winds and tornadoes affected southern Chile (in particular the Los Lagos region) over 24-25 May, causing a number of incidents that have resulted in casualties and damage.
The IFRC and media report, as of 27 May, eight injured persons and approximately 250 damaged houses across the area of the Puerto Varas city (Los Lagos region). In addition, media also report up to 21,000 power outages across the affected area.
Over the next 24 hours, more strong winds and heavy rainfall are forecast over the already affected Los Lagos region.
