Highlights

·Since the beginning of the Sudan crisis and as of 4 January 2024, UNHCR has reported an influx of 496,834 refugees in Chad. 86 per cent of the refugees are women and children. In addition, as of 29 December 2023, IOM has reported an influx of 93,701 returnees.

· In December, thanks to UNICEF, 9,240 people gained access to water and 13,966 people gained access to sanitation services.

·UNICEF treated 4,269 children under the age of five suffering from severe acute malnutrition (SAM) in the affected provinces.

·UNICEF built 14 new temporary learning spaces. 4,097 children (2,091 girls and 2,006 boys) gained access to school with UNICEF support.

·UNICEF provided psychosocial support to 15,551 children and two male guardians through fixed and mobile child-friendly spaces (CFS).

·UNICEF distributed 1,000 NFI kits to 1,000 households in Zabout camp and in Hile village in Sila province. UNICEF reached 3,724 persons with this distribution.
