Highlights

  • The nutrition crisis persists in Chad and during the first quarter of 2023, 53,700 under-5 children (29,725 girls and 23,975 boys) suffering from severe acute malnutrition were admitted and treated countrywide, with a cure rate of 95.8 per cent.

  • In response to displacement triggered by floods and conflicts, UNICEF provided NFI kits to 52,170 people (16,530 girls, 10,535 women, 15,549 boys, 9,556 men) in three provinces.

  • UNICEF provided 52,092 people (16,245 girls, 15,008 boys, 9,996 men and 10,843 women) with sufficient quantity of safe water for drinking, cooking and personal hygiene in four provinces.

  • Following multiple cases of measles reported in flood-affected and refugee sites, UNICEF supported a riposte immunization campaign that reached 414,250 children (211,265 girls and 202,985 boys) in N'Djamena.
