Highlights
- Since the beginning of the conflict in Sudan on 15 April 2023, and as of 6 July 2025, the Chadian Government, the United Nations High Commission for Refugees (UNHCR), and the International Organization for Migration have registered 870,270 refugees and 306,865 Chadian returnees. 61 per cent of the refugees and 67 per cent of the returnees are children under 18.
- This includes 90,018 refugees who have arrived in Chad since mid-April 2025, following the attacks on the internally displaced persons camps of Zamzam and Abou Shouk in Sudan. Most of these refugees are arriving in the provinces of Wadi Fira and Ennedi Est.
- UNICEF continues to support the management of Severe Acute Malnutrition (SAM) cases. This week, 214 new cases of children suffering from SAM (115 girls and 99 boys) were reported, bringing the total to 2,239 cases since mid-April.
- The suspected case of cholera on 6 July 2025 in Tine tested negative, and Chad remains cholera-free to this day.
