Since 15 April the conflict in Sudan has forced thousands of families to flee including to neighboring countries. Over a hundred thousand have arrived in eastern Chad.
Numbers are rapidly increasing. New arrivals mostly women and children settled in villages near the border. Refugees need urgent protection, food, water, and health.
In support of the government, UNHCR is coordinating with partners the urgent relocation of families to safety away from the border and the provision of protection and humanitarian assistance.
