The measles epidemic in Chad, declared on 30 May 2018, continues to spread. According to the latest information, between 1 January and 12 April 2019, more than 10 333 cases and 84 deaths were registered in 112 out of 126 districts in the east, south and central parts of the country and in the capital N’Djamena. The capital N’Djamena, which is home to 10% of the country's 12 million population, is particularly affected with 22% of the suspected cases reported there during the observed period. Based on the latest data, only one in four children aged 12-23 months is fully immunised in Chad.
