CONTEXT AND IMPACT OF THE CRISIS
Chad continues to be affected by four interconnected crises with multifaceted humanitarian consequences in a context of underdevelopment, socio-economic challenges, and growing insecurity within its borders and in neighbouring countries. Forced displacement, food insecurity and malnutrition, health emergencies and the effects of climate change affect some 6.9 million people.
More than one million people are forcibly displaced as a result of the insurgency by non-state armed groups and military counter-offensives in the Lac Province, as well as instability in neighbouring countries (CAR, Sudan, Cameroon, Nigeria, etc.). Nearly 5.3 million people are food insecure, including 1.5 million in the severe phase. The nutritional situation remains worrying in 17 of the 23 provinces, with a global acute malnutrition rate of 8.6% and a severe acute malnutrition rate of 1,5%.
