The humanitarian impact of the widespread flooding caused by heavy rainfall that has been affecting central and south-western Chad is increasing.
As of 17 September, the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) reports at least 341 fatalities, at least 1,495,969 people affected and 265,590 damaged houses. The regions of Tandjile, Mayo-Kebbi Est, Logone Oriental, Lac, Guera, Salamat, Batha, and Mandoul are the most affected.
On 17-18 September, more rainfall is forecast over the southern part of the country.
